Chantelle Cameron is an undefeated English professional boxer who currently holds the undisputed light-welterweight title. She was born in Northampton, England, on May 14, 1991, and began training in combat sports at a very young age. Cameron received a silver medal as an amateur in the light-welterweight division at the 2010 EU Championships in Keszthely, Hungary. In addition to this accolade, she also claimed a bronze medal in the lightweight division at the 2011 EU Championships in Katowice, Poland, after losing to Ireland's Katie Taylor in the semi-finals.
In 2017, Chantelle Cameron made her first walk to a professional boxing ring by signing with Cyclone Promotions under Barry McGuigan. Her debut fight, guided by Shane McGuigan, the son of Barry McGuigan, took place on May 26, 2017, in Cardiff, Wales, where she recorded a six-round points decision win against Karina Kopinska.
Cameron continued her success with TKO wins in July and October against Bojana Libiszewska and Bilitis Gaucher, respectively. On November 11, 2017, she clinched the vacant IBO Inter-Continental female super-featherweight title with a 3rd round TKO win over Edith Ramos in Edinburgh, Scotland. In November 2022, Chantelle Cameron achieved a major milestone in her career by defeating Jessica McCaskill. This win not only secured Cameron's spot as the undisputed world light-welterweight champion but also marked her as the very first undisputed female boxing world champion from the United Kingdom.
At present, Chantelle Cameron holds an undefeated professional record of 18 wins to no losses (18-0-0). Cameron is currently scheduled for her rematch against Katie Taylor on November 25, 2023.
Katie Taylor Next Fight - Opponent, Date, and Location
For her next fight, Chantelle Cameron is scheduled to rematch Katie Taylor at the 3Arena in Dublin on November 25, 2023. On March 2, 2023, Katie Taylor used her Instagram to issue a public challenge to Chantelle Cameron, the undisputed super-lightweight champion. Cameron accepted the callout, and on March 11, premier boxing promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that the bout would commence at the 3Arena in Dublin on May 20.
On May 20, 2023, at the 3Arena in Ireland, Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron finally faced off. Taylor, the undefeated and undisputed lightweight champion at the time, took on Cameron, her British adversary, who also held an undefeated record and put her undisputed super-lightweight titles at stake. The intense fight witnessed Cameron's relentless pressure and impactful performance in the middle rounds, ultimately leading to her triumph. Despite Taylor's late surges, Cameron's consistent targeting of body shots appeared to take a toll on her opponent.
Unfortunately, despite a home crowd in Dublin and support from UFC megastar Conor McGregor ringside, Taylor was defeated via a majority decision to Cameron, with scores of 96-94, 96-94, and 95-95. Taylor expressed a desire for a rematch as the fight was a closely contested one, and the fight's promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed a rematch clause had been activated.
