Danielle Kelly recently weighed in on a potential submission grappling matchup between Mikey Musumeci and Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson.

On September 30, Mikey ‘Darth Rigatoni’ Musumeci put everything on the line to be the first-ever flyweight submission grappling world champion at ONE Championship.

He faced a very formidable opponent in Cleber Sousa, who made it difficult for Musumeci to get the submission finish he was looking for. Now 2-1 in the trilogy series with Sousa, the 26-year-old champion is on the prowl for a new challenge.

In the post-fight interview at ONE on Prime Video 3, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ made a bold but “respecful” ‘call to roll’ with Demetrious Johnson. In calling out one of the best grapplers in the flyweight division, the fantasy matchup between the two superstars is all everyone is talking about.

Danielle Kelly, for one, indulged fans by giving her prediction about a Musumeci vs Johnson showdown. When asked who she thinks will win that matchup, Kelly automatically told ONE Championship:

“Mikey. Because, I mean, I think he'll kind of toy with DJ. DJ's an MMA fighter. But you know, I think DJ is not a black belt. It'd be fun. It'd be a cool match, but I think Mikey wins. Easily.”

Demetrious Johnson may not have a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu yet, but he’s put black belts to shame in the past. If Johnson were to focus all his energy on submission grappling, who’s to say he doesn’t have a chance to beat Musumeci?

This matchup, however, might not likely happen in the near future. The Washington-based fighter has plans to defend his newly-acquired crown for the first time since avenging his loss against Adriano Moraes at ONE on Prime Video 1.

Danielle Kelly teases a return to ONE Championship with “upcoming matches”

It’s been seven months since Danielle Kelly graced her fans with her presence since facing Mei Yamaguchi at ONE X. Right now, though, the Silver Fox representative is teasing a comeback with a new post she released on her Instagram page.

The caption read:

“Little 👦🏻 vibes. Nothing better than having a @jimmybars after open mat training. Happy to be working together for my upcoming matches.”

The BJJ star threw fans under a loop with her latest reveal, with fans eagerly asking her on social media what she meant by her post, to which she replied: “staying ready.”

The 26-year-old superstar is still waiting for the call back to action. A potential grappler lined up for her is BJJ blackbelt Jessa Khan, who owns a win over Danielle Kelly. With Khan’s addition to the grappling roster, it’s only a matter of time before the pair meet for their rematch under the ONE Championship circle.
