Danielle Kelly wants a tough matchup for ONE Fight Night 10 if she’s on the card

Brazilian jiu-jitsu phenom Danielle Kelly has a challenging submission grappling match at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video on February 10. However, she wants to be booked again on ONE Championship’s first show in the United States at ONE Fight Night 10 later this year against a big name.

At ONE Fight Night 7, Kelly will have her hands full against judo black belt and former ONE women’s strawweight world title challenger Ayaka Miura. Kelly is looking to add more wins to her submission grappling record in the ONE circle.

It was recently announced that ONE Championship will have a debut event on US soil. ONE Fight Night 10 will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson vs. Adriano Moraes III on May 5. Danielle Kelly wants to compete at this event against a prominent fighter.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Kelly was asked about ONE Fight Night 10, and she said:

"Speaking of that, if I’m on that event I think you know, if I was in a perfect world, I want someone like a really known name person or one of their MMA fighters that would bring a lot of attention to women’s jiu-jitsu for sure."

Kelly wants to face a known name in the MMA world. She has been verbally sparring with MMA star 'Unstoppable' Angela Lee, the ONE women's atomweight world champion, for some time now. A matchup with Lee certainly fits the bill for what Kelly is looking for in a potential fight in May.

Danielle Kelly and ONE atomweight queen Angela Lee have been discussing each other in press conferences and interviews. It seems both may be interested in facing off against one another in some form.

Earlier in 2022, at the ONE Championship and Amazon Prime Video joint press conference, Kelly was asked about rolling against Lee. She explained that she wasn't interested as he only wanted to face 'legit' grapplers:

“I’m a jiu-jitsu person so I’ve been focusing on legit grapplers. But if they want to give me that match, I’ll take it in a heartbeat.”

The reigning ONE women's atomweight world champion Angela Lee said that she is ready to rumble. During the same press conference, Lee stated:

"She’s trying to stir up drama saying that… Step into the circle with me, put on your MMA gloves, and let's go.”

After her most recent victory in the ONE circle, Danielle Kelly added:

“Angela [Lee] called me out, said she could submit me, so come prove it. I’m ready.”
