Demetrius Andrade is an American professional boxer who is a two-division world champion. He started boxing as early as a child of 6. The finesse only kept getting sharper and sharper as Andrade showed glimpses of a dominant fighter in his early days as a boxer. He used to train at his father’s gym from a very young age and with the passage of a few years his father Paul started training him.
Demetrius Andrade tasted success as an amateur boxer. The southpaw with a swift right hand, Andrade earned a gold medal in 2002 at the National Silver Gloves Championships in the bracket of ages 12 and 13 and a weight limit of 112 pounds. He won the amateur titles in 2005 and 2006. Demetrius Andrade also competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team and lost in the quarter-final to Korean boxer Kim Jung-joo.
Demetrius Andrade made an impressive debut in October 2008 by competing against Patrick Cape. He dispatched Cape in the second round of the fight via TKO and announced his arrival in style. He translated his beginning into an impeccable run which has continued to this day.
Demetrius Andrade won the vacant WBC light-middleweight title in 2013 against Vanes Martirosyan via split decision. He defeated Dabio Fabian Pucheta in 2015 by TKO to seize the vacant WBO International light middleweight title. In 2017, he clinched the WBA (Regular) light-middleweight title by defeating Jack Culcay via split decision. Demetrius Andrade became the WBO middleweight champion by winning the vacant WBO middleweight title against Walter Kautondokwa via unanimous decision.
