He defended his title successfully on ten occasions before suffering the first loss of his professional career and dropping it.

Deontay Wilder locked horns with Tyson Fury when the duo shared the squared circle for the second time on February 22, 2022, with the WBC heavyweight championship on the line. Fury delivered a powerful performance, knocked Wilder out in the seventh round, and won the heavyweight title. He suffered another loss in the rematch against Fury but won his most recent fight by knocking out Robert Helenius in the first round.
