The Ultimate Fighting Championship is all set to host another exciting fight night event on May 11, 2024, from the Enterprise Center, St. Louis, Missouri in the United States of America. A high-octane heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis and Rodrigo Nascimento is scheduled to headline the event. The fight card is stacked with multiple fights across weight classes in the main card and the preliminary card of UFC on ESPN: Lewis vs. Nascimento.

Derrick Lewis is one of the most dreaded fighters who competes in the heavyweight division of the UFC. Known for his hard-hitting punches, Lewis holds the record for most knockouts in the history of the promotion’s existence to date. He started his career as an amateur mixed martial artist, Lewis turned into a professional fighter on April 9, 2010, at Worldwide Gladiator against Nick Mitchell. Lewis dispatched Mitchell in the second round via a TKO and took off to a dominant winning start as a professional.

After compiling a professional record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no-contest, Derrick Lewis made his debut in the UFC at UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Browne on April 19, 2014. He was welcomed into the octagon by Jack May in the showdown where Lewis made quick work of May and finished him by a first-round TKO to secure a win. He contended for the UFC heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier at UFC 230 but lost by a second-round submission. He faced Ciryl Gane at UFC 265 for the UFC interim heavyweight title and lost by a third-round TKO. Lewis is currently ranked as the No. 12 heavyweight fighter in the UFC.

Derrick Lewis’ opponent for his upcoming fight is a promising and dominant prospect of the heavyweight division in the UFC, Rodrigo Nascimento. He made his professional mixed martial arts debut on March 24, 2012, against Cicero Augusto at Full House Fight Night. Augusto was beaten by a first-round TKO by Nascimento and started his career with a win.

Rodrigo Nascimento locked horns with Michal Martinek at the Dana White’s Contender Series 22 after compiling a professional record of 7 wins and 0 losses on July 30, 2019. Nascimento won the fight by a first-round submission to win the fight and won a UFC contract. He made his promotional debut in the promotion on May 16, 2020, against Don’Tale Mayes at UFC on ESPN: Overeem vs. Harris. Nascimento defeated Mayes by a second-round submission and continued his winning run. He is currently ranked as the No. 15 fighter in the heavyweight division. Both heavyweight fighters will look forward to securing a convincing victory on May 11, 2024, in order to progress forward in the promotion’s division.
