Diego Lopes made his promotional debut on short notice of five days against the undefeated Russian fighter Movsar Evloev at UFC 288 on May 6, 2023. The fight took place in New Jersey, United States, and Lopes was able to get through three rounds with Evloev. However, a dominant Evloev had a unanimous decision win over the Brazilian and both contenders won the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus for their peak-level performance showcase. However, Diego Lopes immediately bounced back from the loss in his next match against Gavin Tucker via a first-round armbar submission and is currently on a four-fight win streak.
