Back when former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo was retired, he teased MMA fans by calling out UFC superstar Conor McGregor. However, Cejudo came out of retirement in May 2023 and fought for the bantamweight title against Aljamain Sterling.
Cejudo took retirement following his victory over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. Many fans and pundits speculated this move as a contract negotiation tactic. However, he returned in May 2023 to face Aljamain Sterling, where he lost the bout by split decision.
During his time as a retired UFC fighter, Cejudo took to X and called out the Irish star McGregor for a fight at 155 pounds, even tagging UFC CEO Dana White in the post.
UFC shared the callout on Reddit, which sparked reactions from several MMA fans who rushed to the comment section to share their opinions on a hypothetical fight between McGregor and Cejudo.

Another user wrote:
“Conor would dogwalk Henry regardless of accolades. Conor is big.”
One fan added:
“I like Cejudo but calling out all these fighters from retirement is getting old. I'd like to see him put his money where his mouth is or shut up at this point.”
Another user committed:
“Dude definitely regrets retiring Imao.”

Henry Cejudo sees Conor McGregor’s UFC 303 pullout as positive for his comeback
Conor McGregor was scheduled to make his highly anticipated octagon return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. However, he withdrew from the bout due to a toe injury.
Henry Cejudo, on his podcast, shared his thoughts on McGregor's pullout and asserted that it’s a good sign, as it seems McGregor wants to make his comeback at 100%. Cejudo said:
“Let me put it to you this way Kamaru, the fact that Conor McGregor has to pull out is actually a really good sign… Now what do I mean by that is he’s probably killing a little bit of his ego and now he’s taking it a lot more seriously than ever."
He added:
“It’s also an experience for him, so the way that I’m taking it too is that they’re going to fight, but he’s at that point where ‘I want to make sure I’m 100 percent, like this comeback to me is [finally] real.’”
