Edgar Berlanga, also known as "The Chosen One," is an undefeated American professional boxer who currently competes at super middleweight. He made his professional debut on April 29, 2016, with a knockout win against Jorge Pedroza. Berlanga was quickly recognized as a novelty for his exceptional power, stopping his first 16 opponents by knockout, all of which came in the opening round.
A product of Brooklyn, New York, Berlanga is proud of his Puerto Rican heritage. He wants to etch his name among the pantheon of greats in Puerto Rico's storied boxing history, the likes of Félix Trinidad and Hector Camacho. For now, still at this stage in his career, Berlanga remains undefeated with some solid wins, such as against Jason Quigley and Padraig McCrory latter of whom he defeated by technical knockout in February 2024. Berlanga’s next fight will be his biggest outing to date as he is scheduled to fight the boxing great Canelo Alvarez on September 14, 2024.
