Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos was interested in combat sports as a child. He started pursuing his dream of becoming a professional mixed martial artist after turning 20. Dos Santos made his professional debut in the sport on November 8, 2009, against Douglas Jandozo. He won by a dominant knockout in the first round and started his professional career on a high.

After compiling a record of 13 wins and 4 losses, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos faced Itamar Rosa for the vacant Jungle Fight Welterweight Championship on July 19, 2014. He won by a first-round knockout to clinch the title and defended it once before joining the UFC.

On May 30, 2015, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos made his promotional debut in the UFC against Nicolas Dalby at UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Alves. After a hard-fought battle, he came up short and lost by a split decision.
