Fans are going after former UFC fighter Nate Marquardt for his views on homosexuality.
Marquardt, a former Strikeforce middleweight champion, has 58 MMA fights in various promotions, including 25 in the UFC. The newer fans might not know about ‘The Great’ as a fighter, but he’s now established a homophobic reputation in the MMA community. The 43-year-old had this to say on Twitter while watching UFC Vegas 69:
“Wow disgusting commercial watching @ESPNPlus with my kids and have to tell them to look away so they don’t see two men kissing!"
Fans were disgusted by Marquardt’s comments, including some saying:

“Imagine if either of your kids has to come out to you one day.. Ffs.”
“Easiest Unfollow I’ve had all day. As a follower of Christ…. You’re better than this Nate. Praying for you brother.”
“Grow up. Don’t raise your kids to be homophobic.”
“Dawg I hope you never win a single fight again"
"I hope you find out your father has been having an affair with another man for 15 years”
Sometimes people get their accounts hacked on Twitter, leading to misleading comments. That is not the case for Marquardt. The former UFC fighter has continued to back his claims on homosexuality. He even doubled down with references to his religious beliefs.

Nate Marquardt doubles down on his opinion regarding homosexuality
Nate Marquardt doesn’t plan on apologizing for his opinion on homosexuality. As a result of his initial comments, there has been plenty of backlash from fans and media. Marquardt responded to everyone questioning his views by saying this on Twitter:
“It is not hateful to say that homosexuality, pedophilia, or fornication is disgusting. It’s not loving to be silent when the culture praises things that lead people to Hell (1Cor 6:9-11). It’s not hateful, but loving to protect children from this world’s evil demented propaganda”
Marquardt holds a professional MMA record of 36-20-2. After parting ways with the UFC in 2017, ‘The Great’ took off nearly four years before returning in 2021, defeating Michael Cora by a first-round submission in Titan FC. Two months later, he fought again and lost by a second-round knockout. It’s unclear if he plans to fight again.
