Fans are praising Demetrious Johnson for escaping a tricky position in his second fight with ONE Championship.
‘Mighty Mouse’ made his promotional debut in March 2019, defeating Yuya Wakamatsu with a second-round submission in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Quarter-finals. Johnson would fight next in August 2019 against Tatsumitsu Wada.
Johnson ended up securing a unanimous decision win but not without overcoming adversity. At one point, Wada ended up on the MMA legend’s back, locking in a body triangle. The Japanese-born fighter racked up control time before ‘Mighty Mouse’ eventually escaped.
ONE Championship recently posted the highlight of ‘The Sweeper,’ and fans filled the comment section, including some saying:

After taking out Wada, Johnson faced Danny Kingad in the finals, winning by unanimous decision. ‘Mighty Mouse’ looked to cash in his Grand Prix title against reigning champion Adriano Moraes, but the latter emerged victorious. Since then, the former UFC champion has avenged his loss to ‘Mikinho,’ setting up a trilogy fight for May 5.

Adriano Moraes sees trilogy fight against Demetrious Johnson as a dream come true
Despite a historic career with ONE Championship, Adriano Moraes didn’t get mainstream attention until he defeated Demetrious Johnson in April 2021. The 8x flyweight world champion is now looking to further his legacy by defeating ‘Mighty Mouse’ again.
During an interview with SCMP MMA, Moraes had this to say about his upcoming trilogy fight:
“He’s a great man and he’s an example for everybody in and out [of the Circle]. I see this trilogy as a dream come true. It’s one and one. I gave him the opportunity to get his strap. Now, he gave me this opportunity to fight him again, to try to recover my belt again.”
Johnson vs. Moraes 3 will headline ONE’s first U.S. event on May 5 in Broomfield, Colorado. The entire fight card has not been released, but several matchups have been announced, including Sage Northcutt vs. Ahmed Mujtaba. ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video will air live and for free to all North American Amazon Prime subscribers.
