⁸Wrestling fans are in awe after watching a clip of Demetrious Johnson intuitively escaping from a difficult body triangle.
In one of Johnson’s earlier matches at ONE, he faced seasoned judo fighter Tatsumitsu Wada at ONE: Dawn of Heroes. There was a crucial moment in the first round where Wada swiftly took control of Johnson’s back, to force him onto the ground and into a body lock.
Johnson thereafter tried to break free but Wada’s body lock was unpassable. After several attempts to escape, ‘Mighty Mouse’ eventually felt Wada’s ankle slip during the entanglement. Seizing the opportunity, Johnson escaped and immediately assumed top control.
The clip, which garnered 57,049 likes, was dissected by every fan in the comments section on Instagram.

“I'm not sure people understand how impressive this is.”
Everyone else agreed and responded with the following thread:
“Timed to perfection 👌🏻”
“Like being able to notice the slight movement in his ankle then pull of and getting into his guard that would take me at least 20 tries 😂”
“Impressive by DJ but his opponent made a ton of mistakes with the body triangle and upper body hand positioning”
“Mistakes are always made. However, what makes DJ so great is he capitalizes immediately the first time his opponent makes a mistake. His timing is perfect.”
Demetrious Johnson reveals what separates him from the greatest fighters of all time
‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson will be performing in the US for the first time since 2018, to defend his flyweight belt against long-time rival Adriano Moraes at ONE Fight Night 10.
The 36-year-old legend continues to impress the MMA community as he enters the 32nd fight of his career. From fighting Rodtang in a mixed-rules bout to getting the championship against Moraes last year, Demetrious Johnson explained why people consider him to be one of the greatest flyweights of all time.
At the post-fight interview at ONE Fight Night 6, Demetrious Johnson said:
“My whole entire career I’ve always been growing and just understanding my style and how is the best way for me to implement it, depending upon fighting, and obviously now people are seeing it more because I battled adversity when I fought Adriano Moraes the first time, then going on and fighting Adriano Moraes for the second time.
A lot of athletes when they suffer a huge defeat and get knocked out they get kind of gun shy. But for me I think just more of my growth as a mixed martial artist and just getting better probably separates me from the other people who are on the list of the greatest of all time.”
