Jacob Smith thankful for the lessons learned in facing Rodtang Jitmuangnon
Making your ONE Championship debut can be both incredibly exciting and highly stressful for any combat sports prospect. Add in making your debut against a Muay Thai icon like Rodtang Jitmuangnon and you’ve got the recipe for a complete meltdown. Fortunately, that was not the case for Jacob Smith, who made his promotional debut against ‘The Iron Man’ at ONE 157 in May.
Smith was dealt a three-round beatdown at the hands of ‘The Iron Man’ that night, but the former British Muay Thai champion never once backed down from the Thai superstar. He may have come out of the bout with a loss, but Smith believes the experience and the lessons learned were invaluable.
“Now the dust has settled I’m not as disappointed as I was after my battle Friday night with @rodtang_jimungnon. I have watched it back and can see so much to improve on but also positives to take away. I got a prime Rodtang on his best day too so the lessons I’m taking away from this loss are invaluable, I’m actually very happy he took me so seriously.”
