The Chelsea Chandler running away memes, which took the internet by storm in mid-2023, defined her loss to Norma Dumont at UFC Vegas 77. It marked her first and only defeat in the promotion, but hardly anyone remembers her for losing the bout.
Instead, Chandler is remembered for one of the most bizarre sequences in UFC history. Early in round one, she pressured Dumont toward the fence but was rocked by a combination that caused her to turn on her heels and sprint toward the opposite end of the cage, with her back fully turned to Dumont, who gave chase.
Naturally, it made for an unforgettable moment that the MMA fandom was quick to poke fun at. One fan account joked that Chandler ran from Dumont as though she was sprinting home to turn off the ovens.
"Forgot she left the oven on"

Others shared clips of characters from television series and films running, jokingly claiming them to be Chandler herself.
Another fan shared a still of the moment, poking fun at Chandler by depicting Dumont as a pesky automobile warranty agent trying to contact her.
Some mocked her for, quite literally, running into the fence, sharing a short clip of someone running face-first into a wall, likening them to Chandler.
"Nobody. Not a soul. Chelsea Chandler"
These mocking sentiments were echoed by more tweets that found humor in Chandler's reaction to being struck by Dumont.
"Chelsea Chandler when Norma Dumont hit her"
Heavyweight mixed martial artist and fellow UFC roster-mate Chris Daukaus also joined in on the fun.
"Live look at me running when my wife gets home from brunch with her gfs and she's had a few"
More memes of the moment popped up with pop culture references.
One meme even liked Chandler to iconic film character Forrest Gump when he embarked on his run.
Despite being rocked, Chandler avoided being finished, instead losing via unanimous decision. However, she likely never fully regained her faculties for the remainder of the fight.
Daniel Cormier also poked fun at Chelsea Chandler
During the live broadcast, Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier burst out in laughter upon seeing Chelsea Chandler flee from Norma Dumont, likening it to when his mother chased him in his childhood. Naturally, he couldn't help but ask Dumont about it in her post-fight interview.
"Please tell me your thoughts, what you were thinking when she ran across the octagon after you landed that left hand."

While the buzz from the moment has since died down, it remains the most memorable moment of Chandler's brief UFC career so far.
