There's arguably no better time than now to be a freelancer in the world of fighting. Mike Perry is seeing the benefits of that as he has a number of opportunities being presented to him, but who is the former UFC athlete facing next?
'Platinum' was a lovable member of the UFC roster before a rough patch in the octagon forced him out of the promotion and into a different career path. Since leaving, the brawler has enjoyed some success in boxing, but more recently the welterweight has earned an undefeated two-fight run with BKFC.
While discussing what's next for him in a recent interview, Mike Perry teased a huge fight coming in a couple of months' time as he looks set to continue his run with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
"I got some hands, man... Tommy [Fury], he's the big guys out there, he's getting the Jake [Paul] fight. Maybe I'm up next for that one, next opportunity for me, but they're trying to stay away from me maybe. They didn't fly me out to Saudi and really have me as that backup... I think Jake Paul can get the win against Tommy but I'm so different, I'm a different breed... April 29th, I'm excited about it, please get excited about it with me... When they release who I'm gonna be fighting, if it's true, if it's real, you're gonna be excited to watch. I'm gonna knockout whoever it is."

The controversial fighter was originally meant to play backup to the upcoming Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury boxing match, but with the fight seemingly going ahead, the MMA star will likely not be needed.

When did Mike Perry leave the UFC?
Ever since bulldozing his way into the UFC back in 2016, Mike Perry has been a chaotic presence in the MMA world. Despite having a promising start to life in the company, his luck in the cage began to fade.
Throughout his years at the elite level of the sport, the 31-year-old was constantly surrounded by controversy, which in turn earned him a strong social media following.
After winning just one of his last five in the UFC and suffering the first knockout loss of his career during that time, Perry's name was on the chopping block and he eventually left the promotion in the second quarter of 2021.
