The ONE strawweight division has a new king and his name is Jarred Brooks. 'The Monkey God' dethroned longtime champion Joshua Pacio in the main event of ONE 164, which fans can watch on YouTube via the promotion's channel.
Brooks outlasted Pacio for a five-round unanimous decision victory, handing the now-former titleholder his first defeat since April 2019.
Entering the strawweight title bout, many expected Brooks' path to victory to be his wrestling. However, he was forced to strike with Pacio and displayed immense improvements.
Incredibly, the newly minted strawweight champ is a perfect 4-0 since debuting with ONE in November 2021. Along the way, he picked up victories over Lito Adiwang, Hiroba Minowa, Bokang Masunyane, and Pacio en route to the title.

Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks know a rematch is in the future
Holding the belt for as long as Pacio did — and defending it three times — normally calls for an immediate rematch. 'The Passion' is eager to regain his throne, but he isn't in a rush.
He told the promotion:
“I trained almost every day to improve. I’ll take this loss as a big lesson. I’m confident that I’ll come back stronger after this. I’m not in a hurry to regain my crown but if they offer me the rematch, I’ll definitely going to take it 100%. But if not, I’ll just continue to level up my game.”
Meanwhile, Brooks is well aware of Pacio's desire to reattain his belt. After his ONE 164 victory, 'The Monkey God' told reporters that he's happy to give Pacio a chance at avenging his loss.
He said in his post-fight presser:
"This isn’t the end with Joshua Pacio. We were just talking about it too. So, I would love to give him another chance in Denver in the United States. He can come to my home turf and we can see where it goes from there."
