George Kambosos Jr. suffered his first professional loss against Devin Haney when he was defending his newly won lightweight titles against him on June 5, 2022. Haney defeated him by a unanimous decision to secure a victory. Kambosos Jr. fought Haney in a rematch on October 16, 2022, but failed to cross the line and ended up coming up short and losing again by a unanimous decision.

George Kambosos Jr. currently reigns as the WBO lightweight champion, a title he won after defeating Maxi Hughes. The duo faced each other on July 22, 2023, and Kambosos Jr. defeated him by a majority decision to win the fight.
