George Kambosos Jr. is a prominent name in the world of professional boxing. Engrossed in rugby league as a kid, Kambosos Jr. pursued boxing as a career for himself as he grew up. Before becoming a professional boxer, Kambosos Jr. started as an amateur and compiled a record of 85 wins from his 100 fights.

On May 18, 2013, George Kmbosos Jr. stepped into the squared circle as a professional competitor for the first time against Jayson Mac Gura. The six-round fight ended in the second round after Kambosos Jr. knocked Gura out in the second round to pick up a win and start his career on a winning note.

After amassing a professional boxing record of 20 wins and 0 losses, George Kambosos Jr. squared off against Teofimo Lopez on November 27, 2021, for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and Ring lightweight titles. In a closely contested fight, Kambosos Jr. was adjudged the winner by a split decision, making him the new champion.

George Kambosos Jr. suffered his first professional loss against Devin Haney when he was defending his newly won lightweight titles against him on June 5, 2022. Haney defeated him by a unanimous decision to secure a victory. Kambosos Jr. fought Haney in a rematch on October 16, 2022, but failed to cross the line and ended up coming up short and losing again by a unanimous decision.

George Kambosos Jr. currently reigns as the WBO lightweight champion, a title he won after defeating Maxi Hughes. The duo faced each other on July 22, 2023, and Kambosos Jr. defeated him by a majority decision to win the fight.
