Brazil's Gilberto Galvao is readying for another tough test inside the circle when he takes on former two-division champ Aung La N Sang at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video. 'Giba' is confident he'll be able to submit 'The Burmese Python'.
Galvao has been dealt a tough hand since signing with ONE in 2016, already fighting both Marcin Prachnio and Reinier de Ridder. The 40-year-old is making his long-awaited return to action following a three-and-a-half-year hiatus.
The middleweight knows defeating Aung La won't be easy, but he's entering with a game plan that he's confident in. He revealed to ONE Championship:
"I’m going to try to corner him, use a grinding game to put him down, and look for the submission. There’s no secret. I already know his game, and I hope to put on a great fight. I am confident in a victory."

'The Burmese Python' wants nothing more than to earn an opportunity to reacquire one of his two world titles. After losing both to Reinier de Ridder, the legend has gone 2-1 with finishes over Leandro Ataides and Yushin Okami.
Aung La must earn a victory over Gilberto Galvao to put his name in the mix for a middleweight title shot. He revealed his game plan to SCMP MMA, saying:
"[Galvao is] going to be physically strong. He’s a jiu-jitsu black belt. He’s down to throw power and looping shots as well. I feel like I’m a little bit better than him in the striking department, a little bit cleaner. I think on the ground, I’ll do okay against him. But I think my conditioning is better than his."
Despite not competing since 2019, Galvao has kept himself in peak shape while also keeping sharp in his MMA disciplines. It's no secret that the Brazilian is looking to gain top control over the Myanmar icon.
Make sure to tune in to ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 to watch Gilberto Galvao take on Aung La N Sang in a pivotal catchweight bout.
