Born on February 20, 1994, the Wisconsin native competed in wrestling at his high school, Cross County Community School, finishing his senior season with a record of 40 wins and 8 losses.

Grant Dawson ventured into professional MMA after achieving 8 victories and 1 loss during his amateur MMA run. After his win at the Dana White’s Contender Series 6 over Adrian Diaz in August 2017, he was offered an Ultimate Fighting Championship contract.
