Artur Asaturovich Beterbiev was born on January 21, 1985, in Khasavyurt, Dagestan, and is a professional boxer of Chechen origin. He is well-known for his phenomenal punching power. On December 19, 2014, Beterbiev was knocked down by Page Jr. in the first round. The referee, however, called it a slip. Beterbiev eventually won the fight in the next round when he knocked out Page Jr.

On October 6, 2018, Callum Johnson knocked Beterbiev down in round two with a left hook. Beterbiev got up immediately and proceeded to beat Johnson in round four with a right hand.

Artur Beterbiev had a successful amateur career, with the majority of his appearances in light heavyweight and a few times in heavyweight. His accolades in the amateur circuit include gold medals at the European Championships (2006, 2010) and the World Championships (2009), along with a gold medal at the 2008 World Cup in Russia. Beterbiev also claimed a silver medal at the 2007 World Championships. Despite his success, he fell short at the Olympics, losing to the reigning heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk in the 2012 quarterfinals, and to Zhang Xiaoping in 2008.
