Khamzat Chimaev is a 30-year-old mixed martial artist who was born in Chechnya, Russia. He moved out to Sweden along with his mother at the age of 18. Chimaev made his professional debut in mixed martial arts against Gard Olve Sagen on May 26, 2018, at IRFA 14. He took off to a victorious start by beating Sagen via knockout in the second round of the fight.

Khamzat Chimaev amassed a winning streak of six fights before making his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He made his debut in the promotion against John Phillips at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige on July 16, 2020, in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Chimaev defeated Phillips by submitting him in the second round with a brabo choke. Ever since his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Chimaev has gone on to record victories in all of his six showings for the promotion. In his last bout, he faced Kevin Holland at UFC 279, on September 10, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America. Holland submitted in the first round of the fight which helped Chimaev record his twelfth consecutive win.
