ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong revisited the recurring debate between which organization is better, the UFC or ONE, in lieu of Jarred Brooks’ comments at ONE 164 last Saturday.
Fans who tuned in to watch ONE 164: Joshua Pacio vs. Jarred Brooks on December 3, saw the crowning of a new ONE strawweight world champion, ‘The Monkey God’ Jarred Brooks.
Inside the ring, Brooks credited ONE Championship for his success, citing that it’s the “best promotion in the world” and “way better than the UFC,” where he previously competed in.

At the ONE 164 post-event presser, Chatri Sityodtong said he agreed with Brooks’ comments and elaborated further with the following remarks:
“I think the average athlete who gets signed by UFC is 8-0 in LFA or 10-0 in collegiate wrestling in 4 years, and maybe there’s Muay Thai, three years. Here you get the best of the best in every single discipline. You get the Ruotolo brothers, Mikey Musumeci in grappling, Buchecha, truly the pound-for-pound greatest.
He added:
“You get striking at the highest of highest levels in Panpayak, and Superlek, and Rodtang, etcetera. Mixed rules fights like Stamp Fairtex and Anissa Meksen - the greatest pound for pound female striker on the planet. Giorgio Petrosyan or Superbon in kickboxing. You look at DJ in mixed martial arts.”

Chatri Sityodtong says Joshua Pacio could’ve had a winning chance if he pushed the gas at the end
Chatri Sityodtong was very pleased with the delivery of everyone’s performances at ONE 164. He also expressed that the main event, Pacio vs. Brooks, encapsulated all the hard work the two athletes have put inside their gyms to showcase the best versions of themselves.
However, Sityodtong did offer one hint of criticism in regards to the way Pacio’s corner handled the championship rounds. In the same interview, he said:
“Joshua was one good punch, one good kick away from winning the fight if he had rocked that last round, if he went for it, right? That was the only thing that I think I would’ve done differently if I was Team Lakay, I would say ‘go, go, go’ you know, you’re down by very little.”
Pacio vs. Brooks was a very closely-contested match, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Pacio is given another opportunity to reclaim his world title.
