Tai Tuivasa is one of the leading professional mixed martial artists currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He competes in the heavyweight division of the promotion and as of August 16, 2024, is ranked No.10 in the promotion’s heavyweight rankings. Tai Tuivasa initially started playing rugby in his younger days, however, he switched to mixed martial arts and pursued a professional career in the combat sports discipline. Tuivasa made his professional mixed martial arts debut on July 6, 2012, against Simon Osborne. He dispatched Osborne in the first round by TKO to start his professional career with a dominant victory.

After demolishing his rivals in multiple fight promotions, Tai Tuivasa ultimately was signed by the coveted Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He made his promotional debut for the organization on November 19, 2017, against Rashad Coulter at UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Tybura. Tuivasa won the fight by a first-round knockout courtesy of a flying knee and won a Performance of the Night award in his first fight inside the octagon.

Tai Tuivasa is the brother-in-law of the former UFC light heavyweight professional mixed martial artist Tyson Pedro. Tyson Pedro’s sister Brierley Pedro is married to Tai Tuivasa. Pedro last fought in a professional mixed martial arts bout on March 2, 2024, at UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Gaziev against Vitor Petrino. After suffering a unanimous decision loss in the fight, Pedro announced his retirement from professional mixed martial arts.

The Australian mixed martial arts veteran, Tyson Pedro retired with a professional mixed martial arts record of 10 wins and five losses. At the time of his retirement, Pedro had five knockout, and five submission victories to his name. He also has one knockout, one submission, and three decision losses to his name.
