J.D. Vance once offered a bold response to Joe Rogan's remarks about the growing number of LGBTQ youth in the United States. Rogan often attracts attention for his polarizing views on various socio-political topics, which has frequently led to him becoming a focal point of intense social media backlash.
During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience in October, the famed podcaster engaged in a conversation with the 2024 U.S. vice president-elect about the increasing influence of LGBTQ culture among wealthy American parents, who they suggested might be encouraging their teenagers to identify as transgender.
Rogan contended that parents may be driven by a desire to conform to progressive values, leading them to perceive gender identity as a social marker:
"I'm just going to say it, even though it sounds gross: they want their kid to be a part of the LGBTQ thing because it looks like a flag of virtue that they can post in their front lawn. 'Oh, look, we have a queer child.' There's a weird thing about it with some of these nutty parents, where there has to be some reason why this enormous percentage of Hollywood kids are trans. How many celebrities have trans kids?"

Vance agreed with Rogan's remarks and emphasized that this phenomenon deserves careful scrutiny to determine whether it is part of a larger cultural trend or influenced by other factors:
"It becomes a social signifier for a lot of parents, and we have to be honest about that fact. If you look at where the gender craziness is most common, among upper-middle-class to lower-middle-class white progressives, now you could believe, okay, that there’s just something genetic going on in the mind of a wealthy white progressive, or you could believe that this is a cultural trend that we should be questioning a lot more than we are right now."

When Joe Rogan joked about disliking being surrounded by gay men in his Netflix special
During a segment of his live Netflix special Burn the Boats (via Chortle) in August, Joe Rogan made a joke about homosexual men that many perceived as an uncalled-for transphobic rant.
Rogan stated that he feels uncomfortable around gay men because of their sexual orientation:
"I love gay men. But I think about gay men the same way I think about mountain lions: I’m happy they’re real, but I don’t want to be surrounded by them. They’re a bunch of dudes who fuck dudes. I don’t like my chances, ok."
