Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira is a 37-year-old professional fighter from Brazil who is currently the light heavyweight champion of UFC. He is a former UFC middleweight champion, and upon losing his title to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287, Pereira moved up a weight class to light heavyweight and faced the former champion Jan Blachowicz on July 29, 2023, at UFC 291. He won the bout via a split decision and, faced Jiri Prochazka for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 295 on November 11, 2023. Since then, he has defended the title twice and is now scheduled to fight Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307 on October 5, 2024.
