He is the former UFC featherweight champion who won the interim title against Josh Emmett at UFC 284. Rodriguez joined the UFC in 2014 following his victory in The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America tournament in the featherweight category.

Rodriguez, in his most recent outing to the octagon, locked horns with the featherweight king, Alexander Volkanovski, in a featherweight title unification match at UFC 290.
