Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz both drew for the first time in their professional MMA careers at UFC 282. The vacant UFC light-heavyweight belt was up for grabs in Las Vegas, but a controversial split decision draw meant that neither fighter walked away with the gold.
Many felt that Ankalaev did enough to win the title at UFC 282, with the Russian dominating Blachowicz on the ground. The Polish fighter even stated that the Dagestani light-heavyweight deserved to be given the belt after the bout.
Sal D'Amato was the only judge to score the contest 47-47, with Mike Bell favoring Ankalaev and Derek Cleary scoring the bout in favor of Blachowicz.

Ankalaev was on a nine-fight winning streak heading into UFC 282, with the Russian beating the likes of Ion Cutelaba, Thiago Santos, and Anthony Smith. Blachowicz has now only won one bout in his last three UFC outings, beating Aleksandar Rakic and losing against Glover Teixeira.
It's currently unknown what the UFC will do in the light-heavyweight division. The belt is currently still vacant since neither Ankalaev nor Blachowicz claimed it at UFC 282 after five rounds of fighting in the main event.
