Ian Machado Garry is a highly skilled mixed martial artist who hails from Ireland. Heading into UFC 310 on December 7, 2024, he holds an undefeated professional record of 15 wins and 0 losses. He is presently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) welterweight division (170 lbs). Garry previously competed at the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship (CWFC) before coming to UFC. He is the winner of the CWFC Welterweight Championship (One time). He is currently ranked 7th in the welterweight division of the UFC and his next bout is scheduled against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 on December 7, 2024.

Ian Garry is 27 years old as of December 2024. He was born in Portmarnock, Ireland, on November 17, 1997. He began his boxing training at 10 years old. Garry was inspired by Conor McGregor's meteoric rise in MMA, as he was also a fellow Irishman.

He attained the black belt in Judo at 18 years of age. Garry dropped out of college after a couple of months as a student because he was interested in making his career in MMA. This decision led to his first-ever amateur fight the following year and in 2019, he competed for the first time as a professional.

Career before UFC

Ian Garry made his amateur MMA debut in November 2017. He completed his amateur career in November, after one year. Garry piled up a 6-1 record with six finishes and a decision loss throughout the year. He made his professional debut at Cage Warriors 101 in February 2019. He dominated his first fight against James Sheehan by a unanimous decision.

He proceeded to win his next six fights in the Cage Warriors Promotion and left the organization with an impressive record of 7-0-0.

UFC Career

Ian Garry signed a contract with the UFC in 2021. He made his UFC debut in November 2021 against Jordan Williams at UFC 268. Garry won the fight via first-round knockout and has been cruising on an eight-fight winning streak in the promotion, as of December 2, 2024.

His next opponent was Darian Weeks at UFC 273 in 2022. In the following match, he faced Gabriel Green at UFC 276 in the same year. Garry's next fight was scheduled against Song Kenan in March 2023 at UFC 285. He was knocked down in the first round of the fight but won via technical knockout in the third round.

His next fight was against Daniel Rodriguez on May 13, 2023, at the UFC on ABC 4. He won via head kick and ground-and-pound TKO in the very first round. This match earned him a Performance of the Night award. His next fight was set to be against Geoff Neal at UFC 292. However, due to Neal's health reasons, Neal was replaced by Neil Magny. Garry won this matchup comfortably via a unanimous decision. He then faced Geoff Neal at UFC 298 and remained undefeated via a split decision. Garry's latest bout was against Michael Page at UFC 303 on June 29, 2024. The Irishman emerged victorious in this bout via a unanimous decision.
