Robert Whittaker squared off against Paulo Costa in a highly competitive showdown at UFC 298 on February 17, 2024. Costa came up short in the end and Whittaker ended up securing a unanimous decision victory in the fight.
He was scheduled to take on the undefeated UFC middleweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev on June 22, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Chimaev withdrew from the bout citing health complications, and was replaced by Ikram Aliskerov. Robert Whittaker beat Ikram Aliskerov in the main event of the UFC on ABC: Whittaker vs. Aliskerov on June 22, 2024, via a first-round KO. His fight against Chimaev got rebooked to UFC 308 on October 26, 2024.
