If not for the weight miss, we might be looking at the new ONE featherweight MMA world champion in, Akbar Abdullaev, after he dominated the reigning divisional king Tang Kai in the main event of ONE Fight Night 27 last Friday evening inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Abdullaev dismantled Tang throughout their match until he finished it in the fifth and final round via TKO to maintain his perfect professional record (12-0) and 100 percent finish rate.
Following his impressive win over the Chinese MMA star, Abdullaev said that he doesn't want to call out anyone in the division and just wants to let the promotion pit him against other contenders in his weight class, as he declared:
"That would be all up to Chatri and the ONE Championship team. I do not want to choose. I'm ready for anyone in my weight division."

The Kyrgyz MMA powerhouse also became the first athlete to hand Tang a first loss under the world's largest martial arts organization. Furthermore, he extended his promotional win streak to four.
Akbar Abdullaev stayed true to his promise of finishing his opponent and not wait for the judges' scorecards
Before this clash with the Sunkin International Fight Club representative, Akbar Abdullaev revealed that he always looks to finish the match before it gets to the judges' scorecards because they can give the win to his opponents.
The Al Munar Team and Tiger Muay Thai representative revealed this in an interview with ONE Championship, where he explained:
"I have a good base and foundation, and I always try to show it. I've had a lot of losses in my amateur career, and since judges could give a win to my opponent and leave me without gold, I try to win ahead of time."
