ONE flyweight king ‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson believes fighting new opponents after Adriano Moraes won’t change the way he approaches all of his fights.
The MMA superstar recently made an appearance at ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon vs. Allazov as a guest-commentator in several high-profile bouts last Friday. You could tell he was happy to do the job, enjoying the atmosphere and all the action ONE Championship produced to jumpstart the new year.
After the show came to its conclusive end, ‘Mighty Mouse’ went backstage to take some questions about his upcoming trilogy match with Adriano Moraes. Since this will be his third fight with the Brazilian superstar, he was asked if he was looking forward to fighting some new blood after defending the belt.
Johnson replied:

“Absolutely. I think fighting fresh blood is always good. It doesn't matter who I fight because I'm always going to go out there and bring the fight. You look at all my fights in ONE Championship or in my whole entire career. I've always brought the fight. When I fought Danny Kingad, Yuya Wakamatsu, Tatsumitsu Wada, Adriano, and Rodtang. It doesn't matter who I fight. It's always going to be exciting.”

Demetrious Johnson is looking forward to starting the year with another banging world title showdown. Tied 1-1 in their incredible series, Johnson is ready to use his experience, killer instincts, and all-encompassing skillset to draw their two-year rivalry to an end and claim dominance in the flyweight division.
Meanwhile, Adriano Moraes, the former ONE flyweight world champion, is working over-time at the famed American Top Team MMA Gym in Florida to get himself back on track.
Since his sole focus right now is to avenge his loss, Moraes hasn’t been as active as he once was on social media. But before the holiday break, the 32-year-old superstar told ONE Championship that he’s learned his lesson.

Demetrious Johnson explains why he would tap out in a grappling match against Mikey Musumeci
Demetrious Johnson couldn’t unsee what he saw when Mikey Musumeci broke Gantumur Batanduuren’s leg during their grappling match at ONE Fight Night 6.
The image of ‘Darth Rigatoni’ twisting and cranking a broken leg for the duration of the match - which must’ve felt like an eternity for all those who watched it live - was difficult to watch. The Mongolian sambo practitioner didn’t tap out of the leg lock, which resulted in a serious injury.
ONE CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong later commented that the injury was so bad that doctors compared his leg injury to a motorcycle accident.
When Demetrious Johnson was asked if he was still open to a grappling match with Mikey Musumeci after what happened, the MMA veteran replied:
“Dude, once you grab my legs, I am tapping because I am not going to play that game and test my flexibility.”
