Ian Garry is an exciting contender in the welterweight division of the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He started preparing for combat sports in his childhood and trained in boxing and judo. Garry ventured into amateur martial arts in his teens and eventually transitioned to professional mixed martial arts in 2019.

In his first professional fight, Ian Garry took on James Sheehan at Cage Warriors 101 on February 16, 2019. He won by a unanimous decision and went on a roll as a professional mixed martial artist. Garry compiled a record of seven consecutive victories before making his promotional debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on November 6, 2021, against Jordan Williams, whom he defeated by first-round knockout. As of December 3, 2024, Garry is ranked No. 7 in the welterweight rankings of the UFC and is scheduled to co-headline the UFC 310 against Shavkat Rakhmonov on December 7, 2024.

He changed his name to Ian Machado Garry from Ian Garry after marrying his wife, Layla Garry, who had a son from her previous relationship.
