Dricus du Plessis, a South African professional MMA fighter, was born on January 14, 1994. He is currently the middleweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Prior to joining the UFC, du Plessis competed in the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC), where he held the middleweight and welterweight titles. He also fought in the Polish-based promotion Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW), where he was the welterweight champion. Since beginning his professional career in 2013, du Plessis has emerged as a prominent contender in the sport.

Dricus du Plessis made his debut in the UFC on October 11, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 179, where he faced Markus Perez. He secured a first-round knockout victory in that fight.

Initially scheduled to fight Trevin Giles on March 20, 2021, at UFC on ESPN 21, du Plessis had to withdraw due to visa issues. Roman Dolidze replaced him in the bout. However, the fight with Giles was later rescheduled for July 10, 2021, at UFC 264. Du Plessis won the fight by knockout in the second round, earning himself the Performance of the Night bonus.

On April 9, 2022, at UFC 273, du Plessis was set to fight Chris Curtis, but Curtis pulled out due to a wrist injury. Anthony Hernandez stepped in as his replacement. However, due to visa issues faced by Nassourdine Imavov, Kevin Gastelum became du Plessis' new opponent. Unfortunately, Gastelum withdrew a week before the event, resulting in the cancellation of their bout.

Next, du Plessis faced Brad Tavares at UFC 276 on July 2, 2022. He won the fight by unanimous decision. On December 10, 2022, at UFC 282, du Plessis fought Darren Till and secured a submission victory in the third round, earning the Fight of the Night bonus.

'Stillknocks' squared off against Derek Brunson on March 4, 2023, at UFC 285. Du Plessis won the fight by technical knockout in the second round, with the corner stopping the fight just one second before the round ended.

At UFC 290 on July 8, 2023, du Plessis faced former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a title eliminator fight. du Plessis won the fight in dominant fashion, securing a TKO win in the second round, despite being considered an underdog in the betting odds.

Dricus du Plessis won the UFC middleweight title by defeating Sean Strickland at UFC 297 on January 20, 2024. He defended the title once against the former champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 305.
