In January 2022, at UFC 270, Della Maddalena was supposed to make his UFC debut against middleweight champion Warlley Alves from The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3. Early in January, Alves left the team for an unspecified reason, and Pete Rodriguez, a newly promoted player, replaced him. Jack obtained a TKO victory.

Josiah Harrell, a promotional newbie, took his spot. As a result of Harrell's diagnosis of Moyamoya disease during his pre-fight medical examination on July 7, the fight was called off the day before the event.
