UFC Fight Night: Almeida vs. Lewis is an upcoming UFC event, featuring a heavyweight main event bout between Jailton Almeida and Derrick Lewis. The top 10 ranked UFC heavyweight competitors are scheduled to lock horns with each other on November 4, 2023, in the main event of the UFC Fight Night: Almeida vs. Lewis. The event will take place at Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in Brazil, São Paulo, Brazil.

Currently ranked 9th in the UFC Heavyweight rankings, Jailton Almeida broke into the professional mixed martial arts scene by making his debut on September 29, 2012, against Deigo Reis at Nocaute MMA Fight 2 in Eunapolis, Brazil. Almeida defeated Reis via submission with the help of a rear naked choke in the first round. His professional journey took off with an impressive win and subsequently, he picked four consecutive victories. He suffered his first loss on August 5, 2017 at the hands of Tyago Moreira at Katana Fight 3 in Colombo, Brazil. Almeida lost via a first-round KO. Recovering from the initial couple of losses, Almeida is on a 14-fight win streak and currently holds a professional MMA record of 19 wins and 2 losses.

Almeida’s rival, Derrick Lewis is a former UFC heavyweight title challenger and is one of the top 10 heavyweight fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Lewis made his professional debut in MMA on April 9, 2010, against Nick Mitchell at Worldwide Gladiator, in Pasadena, Texas, USA. He defeated Mitchell in the second-round via knockout.

Derrick Lewis, right after his successful first professional fight, suffered his first loss against Shawn Jordan. He was defeated by Shawn Jordan at Cajun Fighting Championships: Full Force, on June 25, 2010 via unanimous decision. Nicknamed ‘The Black Beast’, Lewis currently holds a professional record of 27 wins, 11 losses, and 1 no-contest. He also holds the record for the most knockouts in UFC history (14).
