Starting his professional career in 2012, Jake Matthews has a record of 20 wins and 7 losses in mixed martial arts as of February 6, 2025. Matthews made his UFC debut on June 28, 2014, as a lightweight contender against Dashon Johnson at UFC Fight Night: Te Huna vs. Marquardt. He won the fight via a triangle choke submission in the third round. However, after suffering two consecutive losses, Matthews moved up a weight class to the welterweight division on November 19, 2017, against Bojan Velickovic. The fight took place at UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Tybura, and Matthews won the bout via a split decision after the three-rounder.
