Muay Thai veteran Jamal Yusupov revealed why his experience won’t be a factor when he meets Tawanchai PK.Saenchai for the first time.
Although there’s a distinctive 17-year age gap between the two warriors, Turkish rising star ‘Yeniceri’ Jamal Yusupov maintained that just because he’s older, it doesn’t mean he’s got more experience than the featherweight world champion.
Speaking at the ONE Fight Night 7 pre-fight interviews, he elaborated:
“I wouldn't say that he's less experienced. In Thailand, I know that they start fighting from a young age. I started my Thai boxing career when I was 21. So I believe we are more or less equal.”

Jamal Yusupov is on a collision course to challenge Tawanchai PK. Saenchai for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title this Friday, February 24, at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand.
They are both set to co-headline the main event under John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade, in what is expected to be one the best Muay Thai fights of the year.
Despite having a late start to his career, Yusupov’s experience shouldn’t be overshadowed by Tawanchai’s star power. The Turkish brawler is a multi-time Russian Muay Thai and kickboxing champion in his own right.
He shocked the world in his promotional debut with a swift knockout against one of the most accomplished strikers in Thailand, Yodsanklai, in November 2019.
Although he enters his next bout with the full knowledge that his rival will have youth and speed as an advantage, he’s hoping to slow down Tawanchai with his timing, movement, and stellar boxing skills.
Don’t miss this epic brawl between two of the best strikers in the world this Friday at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. North American audiences can watch the event live and for free with an Amazon Prime subscription.
