Muay Thai contender Jamal Yusupov expects an early night when he challenges reigning ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK.Saenchai on February 24.

The two strikers will battle it out in the co-main event of the evening at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video with 26.4 pounds of gold on the line. Ahead of the highly anticipated showdown, Yusupov spoke with ONE Championship to share his thoughts on how he sees the fight playing out in front of a raucous crowd at the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium:

“I think the fight will end early. I am ready for five tough rounds, but I’ll try to win early by knockout.”

Both warriors enter the bout riding three-fight win streaks with three combined knockouts between them. Jamal Yusopov has looked impressive in all three outings, though his appearances inside the Circle have been few and far between.

Debuting for the promotion in 2019, Yusupov scored a second-round knockout against Yodsanklai. It would be nearly a year before he would return to capture his second win against Samy Sana at ONE: Collision Course II in December 2020.

Another 19 months would pass before we would see Jamal Yusupov for a third time, but the results were no less impressive with the Turkish striker earning a unanimous decision win over Jo Nattawut at ONE 159 in July. That victory secured him a ONE world title opportunity that he will attempt to cash in on at ONE Fight Night 7.

Tawanchai expects a better version of himself when he meets Jamal Yusupov

Tawanchai PK.Saenchai earned the honor of being ONE Championship’s 2022 Muay Thai Fighter of the Year after scoring three victories and a ONE world championship in the span of eight spectacular months inside the Circle.

Despite all of his accomplishments, the Thai superstar is still improving with every fight and expects an even better version of himself when he meets Jamal Yusupov on February 24:

“Since I joined ONE, I’ve been working hard on myself. I know which parts of me need change. I’ve identified my strengths and what the fans like, then adjusted accordingly. I’d do anything to improve myself, to fill in any hole I may have.”

At just 23 years old, Tawanchai is a veteran of the art of eight limbs with 128 career wins, with four of those coming on combat sports’ biggest stage.
