Jared Cannonier is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in multiple fight classes and currently fights in the middleweight division. He fought in various professional fight promotions after making his professional debut as a mixed martial artist. He started his career as an amateur competitor in mixed martial arts in 2011 and eventually transitioned to professional mixed martial arts in the same year. Cannonier had a successful outing in the cage in his debut showdown as a professional mixed martial artist on June 19, 2011, against Alton Prince whom he defeated by a first-round TKO. He compiled a perfect record of 7 wins and 0 losses before making his way into the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In his promotional debut in the UFC, Jared Cannonier squared off against Shawn Jordan at UFC 182 on January 3, 2015. He was defeated by Jordan by a first-round knockout in his first fight for the promotion. Cannonier got into his grooves in his coming fights and won consecutive fights before suffering another loss.

After being around for a long time, Jared Cannonier headlined his first pay-per-view event in the UFC along with the former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, at UFC 276 on July 2, 2022, with the middleweight gold on the line. He failed to beat Adesanya and win the title and ended up losing by a unanimous decision. Jared Cannonier is currently one of the top contenders in UFC’s middleweight division. As of February 2025, he is currently ranked No. 7 in the promotion’s middleweight rankings.
