Newly-crowned strawweight champ Jarred Brooks has experienced a life-changing couple of years. From fighting in RIZIN to working full-time during the pandemic, Brooks is truly grateful for being signed by ONE Championship in 2021.
'The Monkey God' is already 4-0 inside the circle, including a title-winning victory over long-time division king Joshua Pacio at ONE 164. Brooks is proving to be one of the most talented fighters on the entire roster.
The champ recently sat down with ONE to discuss his last couple of years, saying:
"It was crazy, fighting at Rizin in 2019, then COVID came around and there were no fights. I literally could not get one fight to try to spring back and Father Time is working. So I was working part-time jobs and full-time jobs, pretty much had a nine-to-five, working all day."

Jarred Brooks added:
"I barely could train and it's just a complete 360 from where it was. It's so much easier to train, so much easier to do the things that I'm doing under ONE Championship.
"If I wouldn't have gotten signed to them, then who knows where I would be? Don't get me wrong, I would still be fighting in a major organization but not in an organization like ONE."
The 29-year-old has responded to each challenge laid in front of him thus far, including finishes over contenders Lito Adiwang and Bokang Masunyane.

Jarred Brooks feels at home with ONE Championship
'The Monkey God' hasn't looked back since joining ONE. Upon entry to the promotion, Brooks felt certain he made the right decision. He told the promotion:
“I’ll say first the one that I like better is ONE Championship because they treat us very well over there, it’s like a family when you’re being introduced to the production crew.
"They’re taking you everywhere, making sure you’re having fun in the process of doing all these interviews, all this structured stuff before the fight.”
All eyes are now on who Brooks will face in his first appearance as strawweight champ. His possible opponents include a rematch with Pacio, a super-fight with Demetrious Johnson, and one of the division's top contenders.
Notably, Brooks' only two losses came in the UFC against Jose Torres and current UFC flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo. Since then, he has rattled off seven straight victories aside from a lone no-contest result in 2019.
Make sure to check back for an announcement regarding Jarred Brooks' next fight, as it will almost certainly serve as his first strawweight world title defense.
