"The Monkey God" Jarred Brooks wants to know what it feels like to lose. Just weeks away from his ONE world title fight with Joshua Pacio, Brooks revealed in an interview with MMA Sucka that he wants ONE Championship to bring in a real challenge.
With his strawweight world championship showdown against Joshua Pacio right around the corner, Brooks’ comments may have come off as cocky. But they could also be perceived as a message to his December 3rd opponent. They may suggest that Joshua Pacio is not a viable challenger for "The Monkey God" inside the Circle:
“I hope that they bring in more people that are good "nough to fight somebody like me. I want somebody to actually, to actually beat me. Come out and knock me out, come out and submit me. I wanna learn. At the end of the day, I’m looking to fight the best of the best and put it all on the line. That’s what it’s about.”
Perhaps we’re reading into his comments a little too much, but Pacio and Brooks have been at one another’s throats on social media and in the tabloids. The rumors of their meeting began to swirl in early 2022.

Jarred Brooks wants a fight with Demetrious Johnson before ‘Mighty Mouse’ retires
Jarred Brooks has a massive world title fight coming up on December 3rd when ONE Championship returns to Manila for ONE 164. While capturing a ONE world title is of the utmost importance to "The Monkey God" this December, Brooks has another fight piquing his interest.
Reigning flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson is seemingly looking to close out his career in the next couple of years. Jarred Brooks is eager to get a shot at one of the pound-for-pound greatest fighters of all time. Taking to Twitter, Brooks issued a challenge to DJ, saying:
"Demetrious Johnson went on Joe Rogan the other day. He said he's about on his way out. I think a perfect last fight for him would be me."
In March, Johnson made history as one of the first to ever compete in a mixed-rules bout inside the Circle. Jarred Brooks suggests that the two could mix it up in some type of mixed rules bout should their clash come to fruition:
"A strawweight vs flyweight champion. And if you wanted to make it interesting, we can make it mixed rules as well. We can go one round Muay Thai, second round Jiu-Jitsu, and third round MMA."
