Maia's journey in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) began in 2018 when she made her debut but suffered a loss against Liz Carmouche in July. In 2019, she rebounded with a victory over Alexis Davis and a rematch win against Roxanne Modafferi. However, her struggles with making weight led to fines in both fights. In November 2019, she faced Katlyn Chookagian but lost via unanimous decision.

In 2020, Maia won impressively against Joanne Calderwood, earning her a Performance of the Night award. She then challenged Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC Women's Flyweight Championship but was defeated in November of the same year. In 2021, she secured a victory against Jessica Eye but faced another loss to Katlyn Chookagian in early 2022.

Maia's fights in 2022 resulted in a loss to Manon Fiorot but a win against Maryna Moroz in November.
