Joe Joyce is a British professional boxer born to a Scottish-born Irish father and a mother of Nigerian origin on September 19, 1985. He performed at the 2012 ABA Championships and 2012 GB Amateur Boxing Championships by winning in the super heavyweight class. At the 2013 European Amateur Boxing Championships, he won bronze after getting knocked out by Sergei Kuzmin in the semifinal. He was quite successful in 2015 and 2016 in the World Series of Boxing, in the Summer Olympics of 2016 he won the silver medal after he suffered a controversial split decision loss to Tony Yoka.
Joe Joyce ventured into professional boxing in July 2017 and signed with the Hayemaker Ringstar. He made his professional debut on Ian Lewison in October 2017 where he put up an impressive show and won the bout. He has held the WBO interim heavyweight title from September 2022 to April 2023.
