Ahead of his fight at ONE on Prime Video 4, Jonathan Haggerty honored one of his old rivals with whom he will compete on the same card this Friday.

Haggerty once fought ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang in back-to-back fights. Rodtang seemed unfazed by everything Haggerty threw, including the time he ate a head kick square on the chin:

In a post shared on his Instagram profile, Haggerty said:

"To this day I’m still not sure how he didn’t go to sleep"

The first fight between Jonathan Haggerty and Rodtang went the distance, with Rodtang securing a decision victory and Haggerty’s flyweight Muay Thai world title.

Haggerty and Rodtang immediately rematched five months later in January 2020. In that fight, Rodtang made the adjustments necessary to earn a third-round stoppage by TKO, finishing him with a hook to the body and an overhand right.

Since then, Haggerty has won two more fights at flyweight, and then made the decision to move up to bantamweight in an effort to capture that division’s title. This weekend will mark the start of a new journey for him to become a two-weight world champion in ONE.

Jonathan Haggerty sends a warning to Lasiri about Rodtang

Having survived the head kicks of Jonathan Haggerty, Rodtang will get to test his mettle against another world champion. His opponent this time will reigning strawweight Muay Thai world champion Joseph Lasiri of Italy.

The bout will be for Rodtang’s flyweight belt as Lasiri looks to become a double-world champion.

Jonathan Haggerty has fought both men and has heard that Joseph Lasiri’s strategy against his Thai opponent will be to pressure him throughout the bout.

Discussing their showdown, Haggerty reacted respectfully, but wasn’t confident in how that plan would play out:

“Pushing the pace. That’s a good strategy, but I don't know if that's a good strategy against Rodtang. But who knows? I wish him nothing but the best and a good fight and I’ll be watching”.

Pushing a strong pace against Rodtang certainly increases the chance of a knockout in the fight, and Jonathan Haggerty knows this too well from his second fight with Rodtang- he was finished by a punch and overhand right as he was rushing forward against Rodtang.

ONE on Prime Video 4 goes down this Friday from Singapore. Featuring both Rodtang and Joseph Lasiri, the card airs on Amazon Prime Video.
