Jonathan Haggerty is one of the most recognizable athletes in the ONE Championship roster. Part of that notoriety is his relentless style inside the circle.

‘The General’ is among the best Muay Thai artists out of Great Britain and he quickly proved his worth on the global stage when he captured the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title in just his second fight with the promotion.

A certified superstar, Haggerty owns five wins in ONE Championship with all of his victories coming via thrilling fashion. He will likely want to replicate that success when he takes on Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video.

Haggerty and Nong-O will close out the card on April 21 at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The entire card will be broadcast live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

As he heads into his world title challenge against Nong-O Hama, let’s look back at the wins that made Jonathan Haggerty one of the best fighters in ONE Championship.

#3. Vladimir Kuzmin (ONE on Prime Video 4)

Jonathan Haggerty fought exclusively at flyweight in his first six fights with ONE Championship, but he ultimately moved up to bantamweight after a couple of health scares.

Waiting for him at a heavier weight class was Russian dynamo Vladimir Kuzmin.

Despite fighting in uncharted territory, Haggerty displayed the tenacity that made him such a menace in the flyweight division.

The 26-year-old tagged Kuzmin with precise roundhouse kicks that instantly wobbled the Russian during their contest at ONE on Prime Video 4.

Haggerty may have started slow in the first round, but the next two rounds saw him whip up nasty combinations that visibly stung Kuzmin as well as earn a majority decision from judges sitting cage-side.

#2. Taiki Naito (ONE: Big Bang II)

If Haggerty used slick combinations against Kuzmin, he did the exact opposite when he faced Taiki Naito at ONE: Big Bang II in December 2020.

‘The General’ had thunder on his right hand that he used to send Naito down twice during the three-round fight.

Haggerty scored his first knockdown of the match when he clocked Naito with a clean right overhand. He then got another knockdown with a quick right cross that sent the Japanese star crashing to the canvas once again.

Although Naito was able to survive until the final bell, the damage that Haggerty caused throughout the whole fight earned the British star the dominant unanimous decision win.

#1. Sam-A Gaiyanghadao (ONE: For Honor)

Jonathan Haggerty was already a star when he entered ONE Championship, but it was in his second fight with the promotion that he became an absolute draw.

The striker from Orpington, England, challenged the living legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title at ONE: For Honor in May 2019.

Despite being a massive underdog, Haggerty displayed the fortitude that ultimately became synonymous with his unrelenting fighting style.

Jonathan Haggerty and Sam-A went to war during their matchup in Jakarta, but ’The General' had better tactics and stronger firepower throughout the five rounds they traded leather.

The British star also scored a crucial knockdown in the third when he tagged Sam-A with a quick straight right.

With both stars bloodied after five rounds, the judges deemed that Haggerty was the better fighter, awarding him the unanimous decision win and the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title.
