Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will finally face off again on May 25, 2024, in the super lightweight division (140 lbs) at First Direct Arena in Leeds, United Kingdom—more than two years after their bout in February 2022. The boxers are expected to enter the ring at 10:00 PM BST, which is 5:00 PM EST or 2:00 PM PST on the West Coast of America.

In February 2022, Taylor defeated Catterall to retain the undisputed super-lightweight titles; however, after Catterall’s controversial split-defeat, talks of a rematch immediately began. The rematch was intended for 2023, but was postponed due to Taylor's foot injury. Then it was scheduled for April 27, 2024, but was postponed again owing to Taylor's eye treatment, and will now take place on May 25.

Most recently, Taylor lost to Teofimo Lopez, losing the WBO and Ring light-welterweight titles by unanimous decision in June 2023; prior to this, he vacated his other three titles. In May and October 2023, Catterall defeated Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares, respectively, via unanimous decision.
