WWE superstar John Cena is not a big fan of the UFC. In a 2016 interview with Larry King, the former 16-time WWE world champion explained that he prefers the carefully curated storylines of pro-wrestling to the UFC's format.
However, the American athlete accepted that there is no denying the level of athleticism required to step into the UFC octagon. Cena added that he himself might not fare well in the UFC.
"It's done great to establish itself as a brand, but you know, in comparison with us, it doesn't resonate with me, just because I'm a storyteller. I enjoy the story that we can tell in the ring and like I say, we do it better than everyone.

"It truly has marketed itself extremely well. It's fantastic exposure. And there is no denying the athletic ability it takes to step in the octagon. It's not something I can do. And I'm not taking away anything from anyone in the UFC because their success speaks for themselves, but as far as it resonating with me, It's just not something I'm a fan of."

When John Cena opined that Conor McGregor would be a great hit in pro-wrestling
WWE Superstar John Cena thinks that UFC's biggest draw Conor McGregor will have a seamless transition to WWE if he decides to jump ship. The veteran pro-wrestler explained that the Irishman understands the entertainment aspect of sports better than anyone else.
Cena elaborated, saying that the way 'The Notorious' sold his fight against Floyd Mayweather was a true testament to the athlete's ability to make it big on the pro-wrestling circuit:
"He [Conor McGregor] would do fantastic [in the WWE]. Hell, he'd put me out of work. He gets the entertainment aspect of sports. And I think he gets it as good or better than anyone else. The way he promoted the fight against [Floyd] Mayweather, that's what we do and he did it as good or better than us."
