The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is coming up with its mega pay-per-view event, the UFC 300, on April 13, 2024. The high-octane professional mixed martial arts event is studded with exciting fights across divisions. While the main event of the evening is scheduled to be headlined by the UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, and the former champion, Jamahal Hill, in a light heavyweight showdown, Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway are expected to square off against each other on the main card of the evening in a lightweight showdown.
Justin Gaethje is one of the leading professional mixed martial artists in the lightweight division in the UFC. Having made his professional debut in 2011, he amassed an incredible record of perfect 18 wins and 0 losses before making his promotional debut in the UFC. He won the interim lightweight title at UFC 249 by defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 via a fifth-round TKO punch.
After competing multiple times for the undisputed lightweight title, Gaethje couldn’t cross the finish line. He remains one of the top contenders for the lightweight title, though. At UFC 291, he defeated Dustin Poirier by second-round TKO to win the symbolic BMF title.
Justin Gaethje’s opponent at UFC 300, Max Holloway, is a former UFC featherweight champion and is among the top contenders of the featherweight division. After making his professional debut in 2010, Holloway fought in different professional mixed martial arts promotions.
He made his promotional debut for the UFC at UFC 150 against Justin Lawrence on August 11, 2012. Holloway defeated him by a second-round TKO to win the fight and make a strong statement in the promotion. He went on to win the featherweight championship in the promotion and defended it several times before finally losing it to Alexander Volkanovski. Holloway also competed for the lightweight title but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity twice, once for the interim lightweight title and once for the undisputed lightweight title.
