Leigh Wood is a two-time and incumbent world featherweight champion hailing from England. He was born in Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England on August 1, 1988. Wood has held the coveted World Boxing Association (WBA) title since May 2023. In the regional circuit, he captured the Commonwealth featherweight title in 2019 and the British featherweight title in 2021. He made his professional boxing debut on October 28, 2011 at the age of 23.

Leigh Wood squared off against Chuck Jones in the inaugural fight of his professional career. He defeated Jones via six around PTS. Woods embarked on a consecutive ten fight long win streak following his debut which included four victories via stoppage. He entered his first world title fight in a squared circle on July 31, 2021 against Xu Can for the featherweight WBA (Regular) title. Wood knocked out Can in the 12th round of the bout and clinched the featherweight championship.
